President William Ruto has accepted the resignation of Prof. Olive Mugenda as the chairperson of Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH) board.
The head of State acknowledged the contributions she made during her tenure that led to growth and development of the institution.
“President William Ruto has received and accepted the resignation of Professor Olive Mugenda as the Chairperson of the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral, and Research Hospital (KUTRRH) Board, with immediate effect.

The President acknowledges Professor Mugenda’s significant contributions to the growth and development of KUTRRH during her tenure and extends his gratitude for her service.” read a press release by State House spokesperson Hussein Mohammed
The news follows a protest held by the hospital staff who demanded the immediate reinstatement of their medical insurance that had been withdrawn.
They continued by vowing to paralyze activities at the facility until when their demands are met.
According to the statement issued by Mohamed, Health CS Deborah Barasa had also sent home the hospital CEO Ahmed Dagane on indefinite leave.
The CS also appointed Dr. Zainab Gura as the acting CEO to take over from Isaac Kamau who was recalled to the Ministry of Health headquarters before he is redoployed.
