ODM party leader Raila Odinga has canceled the much anticipated Kamukunji rally accusing the police and Kenya Kwanza government over the day’s incident.
Speaking on Wednesday from the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation, the Azimio principal accused the police of injuring protesters.
He also accused the Kenya Kwanza government of hiring goons to cause chaos as witnessed across the country.
“We have witnessed savage attacks on our supporters by police officers who discriminately shot, injured and killed a number of people across the country, including here in Nairobi,” said Raila
The former Prime Minister thanked Kenyans who turned up to show solidarity and push the government to lower the cost of living.
Raila also accused President William Ruto of killing those standing in solidarity with fighting for their rights as he warned the police against the arrest of demonstrators protected by the constitution.
The message is out loudly and clearly that Kenyans are tired. Kenyans are tired. People are tired of new promises on top of old promises. People are tired of being ignored,” he said
He noted that Kenyans are tired of being lied to through new promises when the old promises are yet to be delivered. He continued by saying that a lot of Kenyans at the moment go to bed hungry due to the high cost of living.
