Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has declared interest for African Union Commission (AU) chairperson position.
Speaking on Thursday, the ODM Party leader said that the decision follows a wider consultation with his friends.
“Should the leadership of Africa want my services I am ready and offer myself to be of service to this continent. I’m ready yes to go for the chairmanship of the African Union,” he said

Raila noted the rich resources Africa has at large but the continent is not in appealing state including the number of African fleeing for greener pasture even though they have to withstand uncalled for conditions to make ends meat.
He continued by saying if elected he will ensure that the continent becomes a major powerhouse through the same resources it possess.
“This is something we need to reverse and it can only be reversed if we as a continent marshal all our resources for the faster socio-economic growth of our continent.” said Raila
If elected to Mousa Faki, the ODM party leader will serve for two terms which total to eight years with the first year expected to end in 2028, a year after the country’s general election.
Speaking to Hon. Raila Odinga was former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo who said that it was about time that the Commission appoints a leader from East Africa and Raila is a perfect candidate for it.
