Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has backed the leasing of Kenya’s busiest airport JKIA to Adani Group saying that the deal will benefit the country.
Speaking on Sunday from Mombasa, the former Prime Minister noted that the country is currently facing economic challenges and that the public-private partnership (PPP) is the way to go.
He continued by praising the Gujarat and Mumbai projects done by Adani Group saying that the company will deliver under the right circumstances.
“There have been misgivings about how the PPP processes for JKIA and the energy sector have been handled, but we must ensure that Kenya remains an attractive destination for such investments,” he said
According to Raila, Adani Group interest in Kenya backs to 2010 but then there was no clear legal framework for Public Private Partnerships.
