Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has opposed the evacuation of people in high risk areas by the government as witnessed on Friday.
Speaking on Friday, the former Prime Minister slammed the government over its response in the ongoing rains that has killed hundreds and left many others missing.
Raila who was visiting residents of Mukuru slums in Nairobi noted that it is because of the government that many Kenyans have been displaced and many other have lost their lives.

“Si wameshindwa…hata wakipewa miaka 10 si watashindwa…mawaziri hawana ujuzi wowote wa kuendeleza serikali,” he said. “Tumesema wasijaribu kubomoa manyumba na kuhamisha watu.” said the former PM
Also speaking at the same event was Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka who called out President William Ruto’s government for not preparing themselves adequately for the rains even though a warning had been issued by the Kenya Met department.
According to Raila, the government should declare the ongoing rains a national disaster and create employment for the people first instead of evacuating them.
