Retired senior AP Officer arrested for allegedly killing farmhand

A retired senior Administration Police Officer has been arrested for allegedly killing his farmhand for allegedly stealing a wire mesh worth Ksh 1,000.

The AP officer identified as Michael Mbugua Njau was arrested alongside Christopher Njau Mbugua and Christopher Kinyanjui Mwangi who lives with them over the death of George Njau.

The three who are currently being held at Kabete Police Station are under investigation over the murder which occurred on January 4th at the retired AP officer’s home in Riruta, Nairobi.

George is reported to have been tortured by the suspects before meeting his death in what they accused him of stealing the wire mesh given his duties at the farm which involved feeding pigs.

Post-mortem results revealed that the farmhand died as a result of internal bleeding and that had suffered fractured arms.

Also assaulted by the suspects was Jacob Mwaura, the brother to the deceased who was allegedly assaulted so as to provide information into the missing wire mesh and who he had sold it to.

They then turned there frustration to George who died after he was dragged. The said wire was discovered under a vehicle inside the compound.

Appearing before Kibera Law Court, DCI through Dagoretti DCI Dennis Were applied for 21 days window to complete the investigation but the court granted him 14 days as the suspects remained in remand.

The suspects will now undergo psychatric evaluation at Mathari Hospital pending mentioning of the case on January 25th.
