Rigathi Gachagua leaves Karen hospital

Impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has been dicharged from Karen hospital making his first public appearance following his admission.

Speaking outside the hospital, Gachagua explained what transpired when he was meant to appear before the Senate and before he was admitted at the hospital.

According to him, he developed sharp chest pains that the doctors informed him could have turned out to be something else if he could have remained unattended.

“On my way to pick up my notes, I developed a very intense pain in the chest. I sat down, the pain continued, and it was very sharp. I called my doctor and described how I was feeling. As we were speaking, I started having shortness of breath.

After being examined, I was admitted for observation and treatment. Once I stabilized, the doctors informed me that if I had been late for another 20 minutes, we would be talking about a different story,” he said

He continued by accusing President William Ruto of taking him the Kenneth Matiba way of getting a stroke and eventually dying as was the case during former President Daniel Moi’s era.

“For the last one year, it has been very difficult for me. When i look at it, it is history repeating itself. President Ruto wanted to take me the route President Moi took Kenneth Matiba. He pushed Matiba up to getting a stroke and eventually dying.” he said

Gachagua further revealed that two attempts on his life have been made through poisoning his food in Kisumu and Nyeri in August and September this year.

“For the first time, let me say that on August 30, in Kisumu, undercover security entered my room in Kisumu and bugged it and one of them tried to poison my food, but we detected it and we were able to escape the scheme.” revealed Gachagua

“I was supposed to be killed by poisoning, and in September in Nyeri, another team came and tried to poison some food meant for me and the Kikuyu Council of Elders.” he said

The ousted Deputy President continued by saying that it was after the two attempts on his life failed that they hatched his impeachment.

“I did report this matter to the NIS and asked the officers assigned to my office to leave because I felt I was not safe. After the two assassination attempts failed, it is when this impeachment motion was hatched,” said Gachagua
