Roseline Odhiambo Odede, the chairperson of Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) has passed away following a short illness.
Confirming the news was the independent commission that sent its deepest condolences to the family, friends and those who knew Roseline.
“It is with shock and deep sorrow that Haki KNCHR informs you all of the demise of Roseline Odhiambo Odede, HSC, Chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights, that happened yesterday, Friday 3rd January, 2025 after a short illness.
During this period of mourning, we send our message of condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the family, friends and all those who knew Roseline. May the memories of her exceptional service bring comfort and strength in this difficult time. ” said KNHCR

Through a statement, the commission Vice Chairperson Raymond Nyeris confirmed that Roseline passed away on Friday and that her death is a big blow to the commission.
“It is with shock and deep sorrow that I inform you of the demise of Roseline Odhiambo Odede, HSC, Chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights, that happened yesterday, Friday 3rd January 2025 after a short illness.
Her untimely death is a big blow to the Commission and the Nation at large. As a Commission, we had the privilege of serving with Roseline Odede as the Chairperson at the helm of the KNCHR’s leadership.
During this period of mourning, we send our message of condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the family, friends and all those who knew Roseline. May the memories of her exceptional service be comfort and strength in this difficult time,” she said
