Rusinga Schools Marks 50 Years of Excellence with Announcement of Innovation Hub Launch

Nairobi, 24 March 2025… As part of its 50th-anniversary celebrations, Rusinga Schools has announced the upcoming launch of the Rusinga Innovation Hub – a dedicated centre for technological exploration and STEAM learning. The hub will serve as a catalyst for innovation, equipping students with skills in coding, programming, and robotics. It will also host the Annual Rusinga Hackathon, inviting young innovators from across the globe to collaborate and solve contemporary challenges through technology.

Since its establishment in 1975, Rusinga Schools has distinguished itself as a leader in international education, emphasizing holistic learning and student-centered teaching. In 2021, the school attained the Council of International Schools (CIS) Accreditation, a globally recognized mark of excellence.

The Golden Jubilee celebrations will honour Rusinga Schools’ fidelity to its founding vision of delivering quality international education grounded in strong Christian values. The occasion will also pay tribute to the teachers, families, alumni network, church partners, and staff who have played a pivotal role in the school’s journey over the past five decades.

Speaking on the announcement of the Innovation Hub launch at the school’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, Rusinga Schools Head Teacher, Mr. Juma Nyamori, emphasized the need for continued investment in quality education to meet the demands of future generations.

“For five decades, Rusinga Schools has nurtured and developed thousands of young people who have gone on to excel in various fields. As we mark this milestone, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering innovation and equipping students with the skills they need to thrive in an evolving world. The launch of the Innovation Hub reflects our dedication to preparing future leaders who will shape Kenya’s economy and contribute to global advancements,” said Mr. Nyamori.

As a founding member of the Kenya Association of International Schools (KAIS), Rusinga has been instrumental in advancing educational policy and advocacy in Kenya. The school continues to collaborate with local and international partners to enhance the quality of learning and shape the educational landscape. Through its partnership with government agencies such as the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), the school has played a key role in curriculum development, particularly in the rollout of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

“Excellence in education goes beyond academics – it is about shaping well-rounded individuals and actively contributing to the growth of the country’s education sector. Rusinga has played a key role in setting high standards in curriculum development, teacher training, and policy advocacy. Our alumni network is a testament to this legacy, with graduates excelling as business leaders, innovators, media professionals, public servants, and more. Their achievements inspire current and future students to strive for excellence and make a positive impact on the world,” added Mr. Nyamori.

Beyond infrastructure and curriculum enhancements, Rusinga is investing in faculty development through a bespoke Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Programme. This initiative includes teacher induction programmes, professional learning communities, and a repository for best teaching practices to ensure sustained excellence in education delivery.

As it embarks on its next chapter, Rusinga Schools remains committed to upholding its strong Christian values, driving innovation in education, and shaping the next generation of leaders and changemakers.
