President William Ruto has ordered the arrest of government officaals who licensed the Embakasi gas company that exploded on Thursday night.
Speaking on Saturday from Kakamega County, the Head of State accused the officials for being incompetent and going contrary to the guidelines in issue such licenses in the country.
“The government officials who issued licenses for gas installations in residential areas, when it was clear that it was wrong…but because of incompetence and corruption they issued them and today we have injured and dead citizens.

Those fellows involved, the ministry must immediately take action against them and they must be dismissed and prosecuted for the crimes committed.” said the President
The news comes barely a day after the Energy Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) confirmed that the gas company was operating illegally.
The Ministry of Energy through CS Davis Chirchir and Interior CS Kithure Kindiki confirmed three applications made by the compony requesting a license were turned down.
A total of three people have so been confirmed dead as hundred others are still receiving treatment after the incident.
