Ruto slams Kenyans mocking his 750km Isiolo-Mandera road pledge

President William Ruto has on Wednesday hit back at Kenyans mocking his 750km Isiolo-Mandera road pledge saying that the project will be completed.

Accompanying the President was Deputy President Kithure Kindiki who together with the Head of State noted that the project will be completed in two and a half a years.

Ruto’s recent development tour in Mandera County came with a number of promises among them the construction of a 750km road that has since been turned into a dance challenge with many terming it a normal promise made by the Head of State and is never delivered.

“I was in Northern Kenya, and I did announce a major road artery that will be constructed from Isiolo through Wajir, Mandera, and many people think it is a joke. In this country, sometimes we take matters of life and death as if it is a joke,” he said

“Tutatengeneza barabara itoke Mandera, ikuje Ramu, ikuje Garre, ikuje El-wak, ikuje Kobo, ikuje pale Kotulo, ikuje Tarbat, ipitie hapa Wajir, iende Samatan, iteremke Modogashe, ifike Isiolo, iende Nairobi,” said President Ruto in Mandera.

The President was speaking during the launch of KSh10 billion Off-Grid Solar Access Project in Northern Kenya and is expected to boost growth of business and the opportunities in the county.

“The KSh10 billion Off-Grid Solar Access Project we have launched today deepens access to affordable energy, particularly in remote and rural parts of Northern Kenya, powering the growth of enterprises and expansion of economic opportunities for all.

The project furthers our goal to universal electricity coverage by 2030 and 100 per cent transition to clean energy, catalysing sustainable, equitable and inclusive growth.” he said
