The National Police Service (NPS) has come out to confirm that Sadam Buke, a man from Isiolo was arrested and not abducted as earlier alleged.
Earlier reports revealed that Buke had been abducted by unknown men in Meru and bundled into a waiting vehicle before speeding off.
Confirming the news was police spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga who said Sadam Buke was arrested in an ongoing operation targeting Marsabit and Isiolo Counties dubbed ‘Operation Ondoa Jangili’

He is accused of facilitating and coordinating the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) in Marsabit and Isiolo Counties as revealed by the police.
“We wish to clarify that Sadam Buke is in lawful custody alongside others. He is suspected of being a key facilitator and coordinator of Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) in both Isiolo and Marsabit Counties,” said Nyaga
The operation by the police follows intelligence reports that some of the members of OLA are hiding in Kenya. OLA, a militia group from Ethiopia is well known for trafficking illegal arms, engaging in human smuggling, illegal mining among other things.
“We reiterate our commitment to comply with constitutional standards of human rights and fundamental freedoms,” read the statement
