Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has come out to deny reports that Uhuru and Central Parks are up for leasing under the private public partnership.
Through a statement, Sakaja noted that in case an interest comes up, then it will be published in an open manner for anyone to apply.
“Reports on Uhuru and Central Park leasing have been made in an alarmist and misleading tone.
- Nairobi County spent zero shillings on development in four months, says CoB
- Court declines DPP’s request to withdraw case against former Nairobi County employee
What is available for interested parties to run is services such as boat riding, fast food, refreshments, bouncing castles, and recreation facilities for children as has ALWAYS BEEN THE CASE. The Expression of Interest will be published in an OPEN manner for anyone to apply.
The PARKS will FOREVER remain Public Property.” he said
At the same time, the Nairobi Governor denied a report by the Controller of Budget (CoB) that he has spent Ksh 0 on development for the last three months saying that he has spent Ksh 844million in Development Expenditure.
“The Statement by the COB on zero spend on Development Expenditure from July is misleading. We have so far (July 2024 to date) paid up to 844million in Development Expenditure.” he said
