The country through the Ministry of Health has confirmed the second case of Mpox at the Malaba border in Busia County.
Through a statement, the Ministry noted that the male driver exhibited all the symptoms after travelling from DRC, the epicenter of the disease.
“The Ministry reports a second confirmed case of the disease in the country. The patient, an adult male truck driver, was identified at the Malaba One Stop Border Post in Busia County, showing symptoms after traveling from the outbreak epicenter in DRC.” they said

The Ministry also confirmed that the patient has been isolated at one of the health facilities in the county as surveillance of other active cases continues.
“The patient has been isolated and is under active management in one of our health facilities in Busia County. Active surveillance for suspected cases has been enhanced in the region and across all counties to ensure the spread of the disease is controlled.” said Health CS Deborah Barasa
As at Friday, the government has tested a total of 42 samples and 40 of them came back negative. A total of 426,438 passengers have also been tested for the disease from various entry points of the country.
