Senate Committee decries poor revenue collection systems in counties

The Senate Committee on ICT has on Tuesday decried over the use of multiple non-integrated revenue collection systems by counties.

Speaking during a meeting with KRA’s Commissioner General Humphrey Wattanga, the committee called on the government agency to work with counties so that they can be their collecting agents.

By so working with county governments, KRA will mitigate cases of theft of public resources as highlighted by the committee.

“The Sen Committee KE on ICT has urged the Kenya Revenue Authority to approach county governments to be their revenue collection agent to mitigate the theft of public resources. While meeting with KRA’s Commissioner General Humphrey Wattanga earlier today, Senators decried the use of multiple non-integrated revenue collection and management systems by counties.

They advised KRA to develop and roll out an integrated county revenue management system to mitigate the wanton leakage of public funds and increase counties’ own source revenue.” said the Senate
