Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has on Thursday been impeached by the Senate ending a two day vigorous exercise in the house.
At the the time of the voting, the Deputy President was receiving treatment at Karen hospital where he had been admited.
A total of 54 Senators in support of the first count in the gross violation of Articles 10, 27, 73, 75, 129 of the Constitution against 13 Senators who voted against it.

28 Senators supported the second count of gross violation of Articles 147 and 152 of the Constitution against 39 of them.
Only 18 Senators backed the third count on gross violation of Articles 6, 10, 74, 186 and 189 of the Constitution against 45 of them who opposed it.
In the fourth and fifth count on gross violation of Article 160 of the Constitution and gross violation of Articles 3 and 148 of the Constitution, a total of 51 and 49 Senators voted in support against 16 Senators who voted against it.
The sixth and seventh counts on crimes under Sections 13 (1) (a) and 62 of the National Cohesion and Integration Act and crimes under Sections 45 (1), 46, 47a (3), and 48 (1) of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act and Sections 2, 3, 4, and 7 of the Proceeds of Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Act, a total of 48 Senators and 14 Senators voted in support respectively against 18 Senators and 52 Senators who voted against it.
27 Senators voted in support of the eighth count of crimes under Section 132 of the Penal Code and Section 29 of the Leadership and Integrity Act as 40 Senators voted against it.
In the ninth count on gross misconduct touching on public attacks on the National Intelligence Service and its officers, a total of 46 Senators against 20 voted against it. Only one Senator sustained his voted.
A total of 22 Senators voted in support of the tenth count on gross misconduct touching on insubordination against 45 Senators who opposed it.
In the last count on gross misconduct touching on bullying, only 18 Senators backed it against 47 who opposed it.
After the voted, Senate Speaker Amason Kingi confirmed that the Deputy President ceases to hold hold office in the country.
““Pursuant to Articles 145, 7 and 151 (b) and 2 of the Constitution, and Standing Orders 78 (8) of the Senate, the Senate has removed from office by impeachment Rigathi Gachagua, the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya. Accordingly, Rigathi Gachagua ceases to hold office,” he said
