Trans-Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has been summoned by the Senate Committee on Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) over Ksh 1.3 billion loss of public funds.
According to the Senate there are a number of discrepancies in the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS) and other county government revenue collection systems.
The Ksh 1.3 billion loss is reported to have occurred due to the use of Paybill number 770478.

As things stand, the matter has been to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for investigation as revealed by Trans-Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang.
“We would like your technical person to show us the list of revenue collectors. We have seen Trans Nzoia CECs collecting revenue,” said Senator Allan Chesang
Appearing before the committee the county’s Deputy County Secretary Boniface Wanyonyi to shed light on the discrepancies after the Governor failed to appear.
According to Wanyonyi, the county CEC’s are not responsible for revenue collection but was called to task to present the necessary revenue collection records.
“The county is fairing badly in terms of hitting its revenue targets by only collecting Ksh500 million against a revenue target potential of Ksh1.3 billion projected by the Commission of Revenue Allocation,” said Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei
