The Senate is on Wednesday set to hold a special sitting and hear charges levelled against Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza.
The news follows a motion tabled against seeking the removal of the Governor was approved by the Meru County Government.

“The Senate KE will hold a special sitting tomorrow, Wednesday, August 14th, 2024, to hear charges against Hon Kawira Mwangaza, the Governor of Meru County. This follows the approval by the County Assembly of Meru of a motion for her removal from office by impeachment.” said Speaker Amason Kingi
At the Senate, the Senators will be expected to listen to the charges levelled against the Governor through a special committee or through a plenary.
They will then vote to determine whether the charges hold water or the impeachment should be quashed entirely.
