Several people are reported injured after a gas filing station explodes in Embakasi near a residential place on Thursday night.
Confirming the incident was the government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura who said that the cause of the explosion remains unknown as fire engines are being deployed at the area.
“There has been a fire outbreak at Kentainers Company ltd near Kabansora in Embakasi, Nairobi. The company was refilling gas cylinders when fire broke out and several people injured and rushed to hospital.

The building hosting the company is badly damaged. The cause of the fire remains unknown. Members of the public are advised to avoid the area as rescue operations are underway including fire engines being deployed to the area.” said Mwaura.
According to the Standard, a total of 165 people were injured after the explosion as the Kenya Red Cross confirmed the rescue of 29 people with more updates to follow.
“In the relentless fight against the Embakasi Village fire in Nairobi County, our team, alongside a multi-agency response force, is tirelessly battling the flames. EMS Kenya has swiftly transferred 29 injured individuals to the Kenyatta National Hospital.” said Kenya Red Cross
