Shannon Sharpe takes leave from ESPN after $50 million sexual assault lawsuit

Former NFL star Shannon Sharpe has announced a temporary leave from ESPN following a $50 million sexual assault lawsuit filled by his ex girlfriend.

According to the ex girlfriend, Shannon had been performing non-consensual acts on her, allegations that the ESPN commentator has denied terming it a ‘shakedown’.

“The relationship in question was 100% consensual. At this juncture I am electing to step aside temporarily from my ESPN duties.” he said.

“I will be devoting this time to my family, and responding and dealing with these false and disruptive allegations set against me. I plan to return to ESPN at the start of the NFL preseason.” he added.

The allegations have however drawn mixed reaction with many recalling a previous incident where he was accused of chocking a female production assistant at FS1.

Other have been left speculating about his future with ESPN and his conduct even though the allegations have been termed a consensual BDSM act.
