Showdown looms in Parliament over Sabina Chege’s position

It will be business unusual in Parliament next week as MPs allied to the opposition have vowed to disrupt seating over Sabina Chege’s Deputy Minority Whip positon.

The leaders allied to Azimio coalition made the announcement calling on the removal of Sabina Chege from the position come next week.

Led by Minority leader Opiyo Wandayi, the Legislators accused the House Speaker Moses Wetangula of taking them in circles over the announcement, five months after the decison was reached.

“If the court order issued on October 19 is not effected by the Speaker and Mwenje allowed to carry out his duty then there will be no business in the House of Parliament on Thursday when the House resumes sittings.

This has to stop in one way or the other. We are being taken round in circles. Meanwhile those who went to court on this matter are now running around to seek further orders to stop the change. You don’t have to be a lawyer to know what games are being played.” said Wandayi

The opposition MPs have now threatened to table a motion of not confidence against Speaker Moses Wetangula if things remain the same.
