The Sports Ministry led by CS Ababu Namwamba is on the sport over Friday’s Mashujaa Day preparation.
Calling out the Ministry was Senator Kiprotich Arap Cheragei who not that the work done on the stadium was substandard and the stampede that occurred was an embarrassment to everyone.
The Senator was speaking as he sent out his condolences to the family and friend of those who lost their loved ones during the incident.
“My heart goes out to the families and friends who lost their loved ones after stampede at kericho stadium yesterday. The supervising ministry of sports CS Ababu must held responsible for this unfortunate incident.
This is clear pointer of substandard work done by the ministry at the stadium. The incident embarrassed all of us . My apologies to the entire country.” he said
In the Friday incident, four women died as 13 others sustained injuries following a stampede caused by spilt tea. The ground around the stadium was muddy that many lost their shoes and those who attended left dirty.
