The African Union (AU) has unveiled the statue of former Tanzania President Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere.

The ceremony which took place on the sidelines of the 37th African Union Summit of Heads of State in Addis Ababa Ethiopia is meant to remind countries of his contribution towards a peaceful nation.
In 2015, a recommendation by former Zimbabwe President late Robert Mugabe to construct the Julius Nyerere Political Affairs, Peace & Security Building was sold to all members.
The building has since then successfully discharged its mandate of promoting peace, security and stability in Africa.
