Stolen shipment of goods worth Ksh 10M recovered in Nairobi

Detectives have recovered a stolen shipment of goods worth Ksh 10 million at Saika area within Nairobi County.

“Assorted cooking appliances that had been stolen while on transit from the port of Mombasa to Malindi, have today been recovered at Saika area within Nairobi County, by a joint team of detectives drawn from Nairobi and Kilindini.” said DCI

The driver of the truck diverted the goods on transit from Mombasa to Malindi claiming that he had developed mechanical problems at Kikambala, Mtwapa in Kilifi County.

“The container with the goods worth over Sh10 Million is suspected to have been diverted by the driver who in collaboration with others failed to deliver the goods to the intended recipient, claiming that the truck had developed mechanical problems at Kikambala, along the busy Mombasa-Malindi highway.” said DCI

The consignee of the shipment made a report to Kilindini Police Station prompting the search of his goods which were recovered at Saika and leading to the arrest of one Francis Victor Karua Gathii.

“It is after the consignee made a report at Kilindini Police Station when investigations regarding the disappearance commenced, leading to the recovery of the shipment in Saika off Kangundo road.

One suspect Francis Victor Karua Gathii was arrested and is now in custody assisting detectives with investigations.

The successful operation was spearheaded by sleuths from the elite Crime Research & Intelligence Bureau, based at Nairobi Area.” said DCI
