Detectives have on Sunday recovered a head suspected to be that of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) student Rita Waeni.
The discovery made at Kiambaa dam in Kiambu County was confirmed by Kiambaa police commander Pius Mwandhi who noted that investigations are still undergoing.
Even though the head has been discovered, police declined to confirm if it belonged to 20-year-old Rita Waeni who was found killed inside an Airbnb in Roysambu, Nairobi County.

A day before the incident, the late Mueni left her aunty’s house in Syokimau to meet a friend. A unidentified man was captured on CCTV picking up the key to the Airbnb but the police are yet to arrest him.
The family of the JKUAT student later confirmed that they received a message demanding a Ksh 500,000 ransom in order to release the girl and the suspect continued demanding ransom even after she had been brutally murdered.
Autopsy of the body has been done by government pathologist Johansen Oduor who said that he has never met such an incident in his entire career. The suspect also attempted to remove samples from the fingers of the deceased.
Samples from the body have been taken for further analysis pending ongoing police investigations.
