Syrian President Bashar al-Assad leaves Damascus after rebels entered the capital as confirmed by two senior army officers who spoke to Reuters.
The news saw people in thousands flock the city on foot and in cars chanting freedom, one of the witnesses said.
“We celebrate with the Syrian people the news of freeing our prisoners and releasing their chains and announcing the end of the era of injustice in Sednaya prison,” said the rebels
Hours later, the rebels confirmed that they taken full control of the city of Homs, a key city that was under government control for the last 24 years.
On Sunday, shooting could be heard in Damascus even though it was not clear what was the cause. In rural areas, thousand came out to celebrate the news same to Homs residents who noted that the city was free.
