Three suspects have been arraigned before a Murang’a court for vandalizing Kenya Power & Lighting Company (KPLC) installations.
The three James Mwangi Muiruri, Stephen Thumbi Kagai and Vincent Ndumia alias Gatoto were arrested by detectives from KPLC as assorted transformers were recovered from the suspects houses.

The three James Mwangi Muiruri, Stephen Thumbi Kagai and Vincent Ndumia alias Gatoto, had been arrested following an operation by detectives and officials from the country’s electricity distributor, based in Murang’a County.
Key exhibits related to the case including assorted transformer lamination sheets were recovered from the suspects’ homes in Kenol and Saba Saba in Murang’a County.” said DCI
Earlier, the suspects led the detectives to their hiding place after vandalizingone transformer sub-station making away with three drums of copper windings and siphoned over 80 litres of transformer oil.
“The trio are facing charges of vandalization of electrical installation and infrastructure contrary to section 169(1)(b) of the Energy ACT.” said DCI
