Three senior officials from the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) were on Tuesday arrested over the fake fertilizer scandal.
The three include NCPB Managing Director Joseph Muna Kimote, Corporate Secretary John Kiplangat Ngetich and General Marketing Manager John Mbaya Matiri.
Following their arrest, the three were taken to Muthaiga police station where they will remain in custody pending a date with the court on Thursday morning.

Confirming the news was DCI boss Amin Mohamed who said that they will be charged with various crimes including conspiracy to commit an offence of economic crime, conspiracy to defraud and abuse of office.
The arrest also follow a sting operation conducted by DCI detectives at the NCPB’s Nairobi depot on Tuesday with more arrest set to happen so as to arrest all those involved in the scandal that has rocked the country.
On Tuesday, the National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula approved a motion sponsored by Bumula MP Jack Wamboka to impeach embattled Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi.
