Tik Toker Rish Kamungu whose real name is Maria Wangari Kamunge has been released on Ksh 5 million bond by a Nairobi court.
Kamunge had been arraigned in court over an alleged oversees job scam where several people lost between Ksh 200,000 and Ksh 400,000. According to DCI, a total of 43 clients had already lost Ksh 12.9 million in the scam.
“Victims reported paying between Sh200,000 and Sh400,000 for job placements, only to discover that the promised opportunities were nonexistent.

Some individuals even travelled to Mauritius, where they found themselves stranded at the airport without assistance and were ultimately deported back to Kenya.
Investigations have revealed that a total of 43 victims sent Sh12.9 million to the suspect.” said DCI
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) requested the court ample time to conduct investigation into the incident thus the need to keep holding Kamunge.
Milimani Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina denied the application saying that the prosecution had failed to prove beyond resealable that they should continue holding him and that investigations can continue without her being in custody.
“The prosecution has not demonstrated that the suspect’s safety is at risk or provided evidence of multiple complainants filing grievances,” said the Margistrate.
