American rapper Tory Lanez has been sentenced to 10 years in jail after he was found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion back in 2020.
A Jury seated in L.A in December found the rapper guilty of three charges levelled against him after Megan Thee Stallion was shot on both feet as she left a party in July 2020.
Megan was forced to undergo surgery to remove bullet fragments lodged on his foot before pressing charges against her 30-year-old friend. The rapper was later arrested in possession of concealed weapon inside a SUV before pleading innocent to assault charges.
Tory Lanez whose real name is Daystar Peterson was due to be sentenced early this year but the case was dragged longer after his lawyer filed a motion to have a new trial, a request that was turned down.
Speaking before the court, Megan Thee Stallion whose real name is Megan Pete recounted how she wished she did not survive the incident in the first place.
She continued by expressing emotional she has been over the years as she blamed those in the music industry for looking into his personal life and not the injuries she sustained.
I try to be strong. I don’t like to look weak. I don’t want to give them the power that they’ve taken from me for the last three years.
‘Not a day goes by without being called a liar. This whole thing is about who I was having sex with, not who shot me, and I don’t know why.’ said Megan
