The National Treasury has proposed budget cuts for three top government offices in the 2024/25 financial years.
The three offices include the State House, office of the President and his Deputy and the office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
In its proposal, Treasury seeks to cut their budgets by Ksh 273.3 billion, that is from Ksh 4.188 trillion to Ksh 3.9 trillion citing inadequate revenue collection and need to allocate extra funds to other departments of the government.

The necessary documents were forwarded to Parliament’s Budget and Appropriations Committee by National Treasury Principal Secretary Chris Kiptoo for scrutiny.
According to Treasury, the extra funds will be used to support the coffee sector and fund the fight against alcohol and drug abuse in the country as initiated by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Even though the news will be welcomed by most Kenyans, the government is also being questioned about the huge spending on trips and extravagant purchases made by top government officials.
