Several people were on Saturday ambushed and killed along the Kenya-Ethiopia border by suspected militia from Ethiopia’s Dassanech community.
The victims who are majorly Turkana fishermen were ambushed and shot to death by the militia as they were fishing at Lake Turkana, at the border with River Omo.

It is yet to be know the number of casualties from the attack by preliminary reports puts them at a dozen.
Confirming the incident was the National Police Service (NPS) which said that they had information regarding an alleged clash between Turkana and Dassanech fishermen at Lopemukat Common Waters.
They continued by saying that the Turkana County security team in collaboration with Ethiopian security authorities are on the ground to verify the reports and take necessary action in accordance with the law.
NPS has called on the two communities to remain calm and refrain from any action that may escalate the situation at hand.
