DCI detectives have arrested two fraudsters who swindled a unsuspecting Kenyan Ksh 1.1 million in a sham vehicle purchase scam.
One of the suspects Yunus Hamza Hussein posed as a salesperson of Rana Motors along Ngong Road where he agreed to sell two vehicles, a Probox Extra and a 14-seater Toyota Hiace 7L for Sh2.9 million, a deal that was too good for the victim.
It was after making a payment of Ksh 1.1 million that the fraudsters went missing prompting the victim to seek the services of DCI.

Yunus was smoked out of his hideout at Crystal Apartments in Athi River before leading the police to his accomplice Brian Omweri where a sim card linked to the payment of Ksh 550,000 was recovered.
“The incident dates back to May 27, 2022, when Yunus Hamza Hussein, masquerading as a savvy salesperson at Rana Motors along Ngong Road, duped an unsuspecting victim with promises of delivering two vehicles, a Probox Extra and a 14-seater Toyota Hiace 7L for Sh2.9 million.
Enticed by the charade, the victim paid a hefty deposit of Sh1.1 million, only to watch the fraudster vanish into thin air. Thanks to forensic intelligence, detectives trailed Hussein to his hideout at Crystal Apartments in Athi River, where several SIM cards were seized.
Hussein further led detectives to his accomplice, Brian Omweri, in Makongeni, Thika where they recovered a SIM card linked to a Sh550,000 payment from the victim.
Now, the devious duo finds themselves behind bars, cooling off in police custody as they await their court appearance.” said DCI
