Police in Embu County have arrested two suspects accused of stealing money from a trader after posing as agents of a mobile service provider.
After getting in touch with the trader’s phone, the two identified as Evans Ngui and Jacline Mwende withdrew Ksh 24,000 using the mobile app and went into hiding.

“Police in Embu County on January 18, 2024 arrested two people who were reported to have obtained money from an unsuspecting trader by posing as agents representing a Mobile Service Provider who were to assist him.
After getting access to his personal details, they used a mobile application to withdraw Ksh. 24,000 from his till number without authorisation.
The duo Evans Ngui and Jacline Mwende who were nabbed at Kithimu Trading Centre are in police custody awaiting arraignment, by DCI Embu.” said National Police Service
