DCI detectives from Vihiga and Intelligence Bureau counterparts from Western Region have arrested two robbery suspects and recovered 14 mobile phones.
The suspects Nelson Auko, 28, and Godfrey Muyeiya, 20 were flushed out of their hideout in Mbale before the police recovered the stolen mobile phones.
“The reign of terror orchestrated by a pack of notorious violent robbers in Mbale town and its environs has ended with the arrest of two prime suspects; Nelson Auko, 28, and Godfrey Muyeiya, 20.
- Two arrested with 12 sacks of marijuana in Mombasa
- Former Governor Ferdinand Waititu found guilty in Ksh 588M irregular tender case
The crackdown in which they were arrested was fueled by crucial leads from members of the public, who tipped detectives from DCI Vihiga and their Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau counterparts from Western Region.
Ambushing the suspects’ hideout in Mbale town, the detectives confiscated a treasure trove of 14 stolen mobile phones, which included four Tecno phones, two Neon Ray phones, five Itel phones, a Samsung, Maxfone and an Okings phone.
Some of the recovered phones reported stolen in January 2025 have been positively identified by their owners.
Meanwhile, Auko and Muyeiya are in custody, undergoing processing as they await their day in court.
Stay alert, stay safe, and remember: when the public and police join forces, even the most elusive criminals can’t escape justice!” said DCI
