The deceased age and any other details remain unknown as at the time of publishing the article.
It has however been confirmed that the person was from Lea County, a region which has recorded 159 cases of the virus and just last week a school-going child died.
Health officials have however not linked the outbreak to what is happening in Texas.
The deceased was the 10th case of measles infection confirmed in Lea County with seven of the victims had not been vaccinated. The vaccination status of the remaining three remains unknown.
Out of the 10 reported cases, six of them were adults and the rest were children under the age of 17 years.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has already dispatched a team to Texas to help local health officials in curbing the virus.
