Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson Wafula Chebukati battled a cancerous brain tumor before his demise.
Revealing the details was his family that said that once he was diagnosed with the tumor he was taken to German to undergo surgery so as to remove it.

According to the family, the tumor recurred in April 2024 and Wafula Chebukati was again taken to Germany for another surgery.
In December 2024 he went to Germany for his checkup only for the doctor to confirm that the tumor had once again recurred.
On 12th February 2025 Chebukati was re-admitted in hospital and this time he was placed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where he stayed until 20th February 2025 where he suffered a cardiac arrest.
“At no time was the immediate family called upon and informed he was clinically dead,” said the family spokesperson
A post-mortem on his body is expected to be conducted before he is laid to rest on 8th March 2025 at his Kitale home.
