We will restock Lake Victoria to reduce cost of living, Ruto

President William Ruto has on Sunday revealed plans by the government to restock Lake Victoria so as to reduce the cost of living in the country.

Speaking from Migori, the Head of State noted that an alternative to maize production is fishing which is also a staple food among Kenyans.

“We have to find ways to deal with the cost of living. We have to produce more food to address the cost of living. We will give fertilizer to the farmers.

Food is not just maize, we must support fish production. We will restock lake Victoria, this is part of mechanisms to reduce the cost of living,” said President William Ruto

President William Ruto continued by revealing plans to build 10 more fish landing sites in each county touching Lake Victoria.

The landing sites are in addition to that built in Sori as the government embarks on plans to cut on post harvest losses.

President Ruto was speaking during his four day working tour of Nyanza region where he has already visited Kisumu, Siaya and Homa Bay.
