Wetangula on the spot over meeting to unite his community

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula is on the spot after holding a meeting with 60 MCA’s from Kakamega County to unite the Luhya community.

“I held a consultative meeting with over 60 MCAs from Kakamega County to discuss regional matters, inclusive of how to unify the community.

We also discussed specific issues touching on the County Assembly such as how to constitutionalise the Ward Fund, Pension, Independence of the County Assembly and gazettement of the Kakamega Level Six Referral Hospital.

Also present were other elected leaders from the County, including Members of Parliament.” he said

What has placed the Speaker on the spot is the current condemnation Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is receiving from alias within Kenya Kwanza government when he calls on the unity of the people from Mt. Kenya.

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and MP Kimani Ichungwa have opposed his call saying that they will not agree on politics based on tribal lines but instead called for the unity of all Kenyans.

“In 2007, we were in the same situation as we are now, and as a leader from Mt Kenya, I cannot allow our people to be misled into separating themselves from the rest of Kenyans.

That is why we are emphasizing that hatutaki siasa za ukabila. We want a unified nation & to bring development to our people.” said Governor Anne Waiguru

It is yet to be seen whether the Speaker’s actions will be called out ad compared to what the Deputy President has been condemned for.
