Another wildfire has been reported in Sericho, Isiolo County as confirmed by Kenya Red Cross who have responded to the incident.
“Reports of another wildfire outbreak in Sericho, Isiolo County. Emergency responders in the area have been activated and are working to contain the situation.” says Kenya Red Cross

The news comes barely a month after a similar fire consumed over 200,000 acres of grazing land in Merti area for five days consecutively.
It was feared that the inferno at the time could take away a huge chunk of grazing land in the semi-arid region of the country.
According to Sericho Community Conservancy Manager Nura Halkana, the fire was caused by herders who were trying to get rid of ticks out of grazing land.
“The fires were caused by herders who were attempting to rid the grazing land of ticks. There has been a heavy infestation of ticks and there are people who think fire is the cure,” he said
“It has been difficult to contain the fire due to lack of proper tools. About 100 residents are trying to fight the blaze. If the pasture is destroyed, animals will suffer this year,” he continued
