Xabi Alonso is set to leave Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the 2024-2025 season as reported by Spanish media reports.
The Real Madrid and Liverpool legend is one of the highly rated managers of the current generation after securing a unbeaten domestic run last season in Germany and lifting the tittle way ahead of Bayern Munich.
Even though the Spaniards contract comes to an end in 2026, the reports reveal that he is planning to leave a year earlier and that is at the end of the current season.

Last year Xabi was linked with a move to Liverpool and Real Madrid following his impressive run in Bundesliga but the moves never materialized. He succumbed to a heartbreaking end of his unbeaten run in the Europa final, going down against Atalanta.
Rumours are still linking him to the Real Madrid job even though Carlo Ancelotti is a decorated manager at the Santiago Bernabeu and has his current contract ending in 2026.
Alonso is also not spared from rumours that he might take up the Bayern Munich job even though they are doing well under Vincent Kompany whose work is not up to the satisfaction of others.
At Real Madrid, the major worrying trend is the inability for Kylian Mbappe to make an impact under Ancelotti following his big money move from PSG.
It is yet to be seen if his combination with Vini Jr will come to life and attract the attention of all football to Real Madrid.
