Young Thug released after pleading guilty to gang, drug and gun charges

US rapper Young Thug has been released from prison after pleading guilty to gang, drug and gun charges in Atlanta.

The 33-year-old rapper whose real name is Jeffery Williams had been sentenced to 40 years in prison, out of which five years will be served in prison but subject to change with time.

The sentence will be followed by another 15 years on probation which if he successfully completes it will see the remaining 20 years scrapped from his sentence. At any time if he violates the probation, he will serve the remaining 20 years.

Young Thug had pleaded guilty to one gang charge, three drug charges and two gun charges and also entered into a plea deal on another gang related charge.

The prosecution team had requested the court to sentence him to 45 years out of which 25 year will be served in prison and the rest under probation.
